  3. I usually stick to really basic things on a trip and probably it isn’t a balanced diet if you just eat a can of tuna and some instant mashed potatoes for supper. But it seems to work all right for a few days at least, and it’s almost always possible to graze on some fresh wild greens, maybe some fruit, tree buds, something that has some extra vitamins. I think you need more fuel than balance. People used to eat johnnycake and pemmican, nothing balanced about either of those. Both are good trail foods, though.

  5. I usually like to bring along some energy bars and dried vegetables and can food or can soup when I go on backpacking. If you know what to bring you can eat well any where.
